The LAC is an association that looks after the interests of people living abroad temporarily as well as during short-term and long-term stays for personal or professional reasons and provides them with information and services. - Concluding agreements on special conditions for the above mentioned group of people regarding the purchase of goods and services.
A "deductible" means that you have to pay part of the expenses yourself in the event of a claim. For example, a "deductible of €50 per case" means that you have to pay €50 in each event of a claim. With PROTRIP-WORLD you can choose between health insurance without a deductible or health insurance with a deductible of €50 per case.
This international insurance has been especially developed for people who wish to stay abroad for up to 2 years. It is irrelevant whether you are traveling privately or for business reasons. PROTRIP-WORLD is recommended for international students and doctoral students, language and exchange students, interns, travelers, au pairs, volunteers as well as high school and Work and Travel participants.
Further prerequisites:
1) You are not older than 49 years at the beginning of the insurance.
2) The insurance policy is purchased prior to departure for the entire duration of the stay abroad or after departure for the remaining period of the stay abroad, but for a maximum of 24 months. PROTRIP-WORLD meets the requirements for J 1 Visa in the USA.
Apart from the J2-, F1- und F2-Visa requirements, PROTRIP-WORLD meets all the insurance criteria which the Department of State has stipulated for J1 visa exchange programs in the USA. These include, among others, a minimum coverage of $100,000 for medical treatment in case of illness and accidents, a coverage of $25,000 for the repatriation of remains in case of death.

The government of the Republic of Costa Rica reacts to the current pandemic situation with stricter COVID-19 entry regulations. Thus, travelers are obliged to prove coverage of quarantine costs in addition to comprehensive foreign health insurance. PROTRIP-WORLD provides coverage for both the treatment costs of a Covid-19 illness and quarantine costs incurred, up to US $2,000. The special arrangement regarding quarantine costs is exclusive for travelers to Costa Rica.
You want to take part in sports activities offered by your high school or university or you like skiing, hiking, cycling or water skiing? With PROTRIP-WORLD, all these activities are insured. No insurance coverage is provided for motorcycle or car racing, parachuting, paragliding, bungee jumping, base jumping, mountaineering (with climbing gear), free climbing as well as sport diving and scuba diving. However, professional athletes cannot be insured in PROTRIP-WORLD.
When taking out the International Health Insurance PROTRIP-WORLD International Health Insurance, you have the possibility to book an additional insurance package. Educational travelers, such as au pairs, can even choose between the Comfort Package, consisting of liability, accident, baggage and assistance insurance, or the Plus Package, which offers extended liability insurance benefits.
Are you planning to work as an au pair abroad?
In this case you should at least buy the Comfort Package. Liability claims within the scope of the au pair activity are insured up to 1 million Euro. This coverage is also valid for language students who live with families with children and carry out similar activities as au pairs. However, we recommend the conclusion of the Plus Package, because it covers additional claims which can occur within the scope of an au pair activity. The key loss risk as well as damage to the host family's property are examples of this.
Your trip includes an internship?
Then the Plus Package is the right choice for you. Damages occurring during internships, which are part of university studies or an Erasmus Plus program, are insured up to 5 million euros and without a deductible. Damages occurring during internships, which are not part of university studies or an Erasmus Plus program, are also insured up to sum of €10,000 and subject to a deductible of €100 per claim.
Accompanying family members can be insured as well if they are not older than 49 years of age. You just need to conclude an insurance policy for each family member separately.
Children can be insured via PROTRIP-WORLD. However, children under 6 years of age can only be insured via PROTRIP-WORLD if the accompanying legal guardian is also insured via PROTRIP-WORLD.
After expiry of the period applied for, insurance coverage will end automatically. Should you return early from your stay abroad, please inform us. A phone call or an email is sufficient. In this case, you only pay the premiums which arose before the notification. If a direct debit system exists, it will be stopped. Credit will be immediately refunded to your account. No service fee will be charged.
At your request, the account can also be based on the date of your return instead of the date of notification. In this case, please send us some proof of reentry which confirms your premature return (for example your plane ticket).

Changing area of validity for more than 6 weeks
If you want to spend more than 6 weeks in a country which belongs to a different area of validity, please insure each stay separately. Please purchase several PROTRIP-WORLD insurances. As first day of insurance, please choose the day of arrival in each country which belongs to a different area of validity. Please mention in your new insurance that it is a follow-on insurance. We will then terminate your previous insurance exactly when your new insurance cover starts. E.g.: You plan to spend 5 months in Australia. Afterwards, you want to spend 3 months in the USA.

via SEPA Direct Debit. The first installment becomes due at the start of insurance,
the subsequent installments at the start of each following month.
If you pay by credit card, we use the 3-D Secure procedure. It provides additional security for your credit card transactions and reduces the risk of fraud due to card misuse.
You first enter your credit card number. A connection will then be established with the card issuer so that you can confirm your identity, for example by entering a code. If the authentication was successful, the credit card payment is executed. The 3-D Secure procedure should not be confused with your credit card's check number (CVC).
In order to use the 3-D Secure procedure, you must register with your bank/credit company, which usually takes a few days.
Please avoid any chargebacks. Every chargeback causes an enormous administrative amount along with bank charges. If you end your trip early and travel back to your home country of Russia, you will receive a refund of any overpaid premiums. However, the global sanctions against Russia due to the war in Ukraine include blocked payment flows that make this difficult. Do you suffer from influenza, a cold or toothache? Go see a doctor! You are covered by international health insurance. For information on our policy’s benefits and benefit exclusions, go to our section Benefits. Inform your treating doctor (where applicable) about your policy’s scope of benefits to avoid overtreatment. After treating you, the doctor will give you an invoice. We need about 2 weeks to process your request. After the claims administration process has been completed you will either receive a reimbursement according to the tariff or a written notification.
Any medication needs to be medically necessary or prescribed by a doctor. You will
receive your medication by taking the prescription to a pharmacy. The original
prescription can then be submitted to us for a refund of the costs.
The policy does not cover medication that can be bought at a pharmacy for free and
without a doctor’s prescription.
Please note that we can only process a prescription after we received the related

The return transport of the insured person is the medically reasonable and justifiable transport of the insured person to the place of residence in the home country or to the nearest suitable hospital to the place of residence if, due to illness or possible undersupply, treatment cannot or can only be carried out inadequately in the country of travel.
In the event of repatriation, the insured person is dependent on either medical supervision or a special medical facility, such as an extra seat in the aircraft or intensive care transport by ambulance flight.
Trained medical staff decides and plans the medically reasonable and justifiable return transport based on the respective needs of the patient.
